Here are my best book review recommendations from across the book list review pages:

Memoirs:

Autobiography Story / Biography Memoir / Non-Fiction Biography / Contemporary Biography

I love a great autobiographical story.

Infidel by Ayaan Hirsi Ali (5/5)

A famous memoir you should read. Ayaan Hirsi Ali is one of today’s most admired and controversial political figures. She burst into international headlines following the murder of Theo Van Gogh by an Islamist who threatened she would be next. An international bestseller, Infidel shows the coming of age of this elegant, distinguished – and sometimes reviled – political superstar and champion of free speech….Click here to read the full book review.

The Glass Castle by Jeanette Walls (5/5)

A fantastic memoir and possibly my favourite autobiography: The Glass Castle is a remarkable memoir of resilience and redemption, and a revelatory look into a family at once deeply dysfunctional and uniquely vibrant….Click here to read the full book review.

An Ordinary Man – The True Story Behind ‘Hotel Rwanda’ by Paul Rusesabagina with Tom Zoellner (5/5)

A powerful biography is the autobiography of the man whose exceptional courage inspired the Oscar nominated film Hotel Rwanda.

Confronting the killers with a combination of diplomacy, flattery and deception, Paul Rusesabagina managed to shelter more than twelve hundred Tutsis and moderate Hutus in the Hotel des Mille Collines, of which he was the general manager, while homicidal mobs raged outside with machetes during the Rwandan genocide of 1994 when 800,000 people were killed in just 100 days, the fastest and most efficient genocide in history….Click here to read the full book review.

Fictional Biography / Autobiography Fiction:

If you’re looking for non-fiction fiction (I think this is a funny title) a great example of a fictional biography is:

A Million Little Pieces by James Frey (5/5)

James Frey published his book as an autobiography, but then it was discovered that much of his book was fiction. Despite him being exposed, and despite knowing that this a fictionalized biography, it’s a fantastic read!

Reader Recommendation:

“I’m not sure whether you’ve read/heard about A Million Little Pieces by James Frey but it was a book I knew I would read again long before I finished it the first time and I think you might enjoy it. Awesome stuff.”

Recommended Non-Fiction Books:

Outliers by Malcolm Gladwell (4/5)

A famous non fiction book would be Outliers by Malcolm Gladwell. Or really any other book written by Gladwell. They are informative and extremely easy to read. I’ll just say this: Read Outliers, you’ll feel smarter after =)….Click here to read the full book review.
